Principal Fehrenbach’s Weekly Message
Dear LPS families,
What a wonderful first week back! I have had the best time getting to know your students and learning our school routines. Mr. Peplinski and I are settling into our roles and getting connected to students and staff, and this week was a great start to the year!
I have a few reminders for our school community:
PM Car Line: This was pretty smooth this week! Remember that we have a couple of procedures to keep the line moving quickly: Stay in your car, and pull up as far as you can so your student can come to you. Also, for the safety of our students, Car Line is a No Cell Phone Zone.
We are hiring! We are looking for a few more staff members for our cafeteria and playground. This could be every day or just a few days a week. We especially need staff for these shifts: 10:30 to 1:30 and 10:30 to 3:00 pm.
Don’t forget to fill out the Free/Reduced Lunch Form online (click “Apply for Benefits”). Even if you don’t think your family will qualify, we receive different federal funding based on these forms. Please complete them this week!
Every year we update family Contact Information to start the year. This ensures we have quick access to you and your child’s emergency contacts if there is an emergency. We like to have email and cell phone for adults on file. We also need updated medical alerts for your students. Look for Contact Update forms to come home with your students next week!
Thank you so much for a great week back! If you need anything from me throughout the year, please reach out via email: sfehrenbach@lelandschool.com.

In search of: a DONATION of school-appropriate magazines (please scan before sending in) and other scrap/used materials like wallpaper or textured material for a hands-on activity in ELA 8.
For context: As we read Kwame Alexander’s The Crossover, we explore the power and poetics of storytelling. We analyze “the story” being told by Romare Bearden’s famous art collage titled The Block (1971). I would like students to create their own collage of their own neighborhood or stomping grounds to accompany their writing pieces.
Thank you kindly,
- Mrs. Vann
