Principal's Note

Dear LPS families,

We are coming to the end of our last full week of school! It was quite a week, full of the LEF Fun Run, Graduation, Field Day, and lots of field trips!
Remember that next week’s schedule looks different:

Monday, Full Day: 3:16 dismissal
Tuesday, Half Day: 11:30 dismissal
Wednesday, Half Day: 11:30 dismissal

Wednesday is our LAST day of school, and students in grades 6-11 have exams starting tomorrow through Wednesday, or have final projects due.

Our PTO is sponsoring a Comet Send-Off on the last day of school! Join us on the playground at 11:00 am for popsicles and celebration as we send our students off for the summer! After enjoying a treat, we’ll line up to cheer on our Comets as they make their way out. Bring your signs, decorate cars, and give our kiddos a send-off to remember as they head to buses and car line! Extra parking is available in the Immanuel Lutheran Church lot.

As usual, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions: sfehrenbach@lelandschool.com or (231) 256-3802.

Shelagh Fehrenbach, K-12 Principal

Our elementary students, families, and teachers did an amazing job, and a special shoutout goes to our high school helpers who were outstanding cheerleaders and kept things running smoothly. LEF’s ongoing support makes a lasting impact by funding enriching experiences for all Comet learners.

Thank you LEF for investing in students.

Elected by fellow PTO members, they’ll help guide events, initiatives, and support for our students, staff, and school community. We're grateful for their leadership and excited for what’s ahead! LEF Supports New Rain Garden Thanks to a generous grant from the Leland Educational Foundation (LEF), our 1st and 2nd graders had the exciting opportunity to plant a beautiful rain garden in the back median! This hands-on learning experience taught students about the benefits of native plants, water conservation, and the importance of caring for our environment.

We are incredibly grateful for the support of Peninsula Perennials Nursery, Peninsula Excavating & Landscaping, Duane Bardenhagen, Lindsey Acker, and several other dedicated volunteers who donated materials, labor, and/ or time to help bring this project to life.

The rain garden is now freshly planted and full of potential, thanks to the teamwork and enthusiasm of our young gardeners, HS helpers, teachers, and the generous support of our community!
