Principal Fehrenbach’s Weekly Message
Dear LPS families,
As we come to the end of October, we have wrapped up nearly all of our fall assessments, and we are busy using everything we know about students to make great decisions about teaching and learning.
We use various standardized tests, both formally and informally, to:
Determine current achievement levels
Form targeted small groups
Monitor student progress over time
We’ve completed NWEA testing for grades 1-7 in both math and reading. We’ve completed PSAT testing for grades 8, 9, 10, and 11–and we had 100% ATTENDANCE! This is incredible attendance for those test dates and we are so thankful for families supporting attendance!
We also use formalized Social-Emotional Learning assessments to monitor student emotion recognition, social problem-solving, impulse control, and school climate perception, among other concepts. All of this information helps our teams round out our whole-child picture of a student and their needs.
We can’t wait to share our beginning-of-the-year information with families at Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 13th and 14th. Please save the dates! These are half days for students and we have conferences planned for the afternoons and evenings.
As usual, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions: sfehrenbach@lelandschool.com or (231) 256-3802.
Shelagh Fehrenbach, K-12 Principal
